Planning Your 2026 Disney World Trip: What's New and What's Gone
With 2026 in full swing, Walt Disney World has introduced several major updates—along with a few quiet closures—that significantly change how itineraries should be planned this year.
The parks are always evolving. Here is an overview of what is new, what is gone, and how to maximize time during a 2026 visit.
The Biggest Additions to the Parks
This year features massive expansions. The much-anticipated overhaul of the Imagination Pavilion at EPCOT has brought the interactive Dreamers Journey exhibit. It serves as a tribute to classic Disney innovation. Lightning Lane reservations for this attraction sell out in seconds, so prompt booking is highly recommended.
At Animal Kingdom, the new Tropical Americas land is officially open. Trading the old DinoLand U.S.A. for an immersive Encanto and Indiana Jones experience marks a major shift for the park, and walking through the newly constructed Casita is a standout addition.
Recent Closures
With new updates come a few farewells. Several legacy snack carts in Magic Kingdom have been removed to make way for the new mobile-order-only Fantasyland Feasts hub. The classic walk-up spots for a citrus swirl have been replaced; however, the new hub is designed to process orders much faster.
Additionally, MuppetVision 3D* is currently undergoing a "reimagining" phase. It remains temporarily closed, requiring adjustments for anyone planning a full day at Hollywood Studios.
Top 2026 Planning Tips
- Book Dining Early: The 60-day window is more competitive this year. Ensure you are online at 5:45 AM EST on the 60-day mark to secure top reservations. For more details on the process, refer to our comprehensive 2026 dining reservation guide.
- Utilize Wearables: MagicBand+ has rolled out three new interactive bounty-hunter missions in Galaxy's Edge, expanding the interactive elements available throughout the park.
- Schedule Mid-Day Breaks: The 2026 crowds are heavy. Plan a resort break around 2 PM to avoid the busiest hours and peak heat.
Planning a trip requires coordination, but having a structured itinerary helps ensure a successful vacation.
